ハリファックスのダウンタウンにある語学学校です。ハリファックスの中では規模の大きな学校で、日本人が常に5人前後と非常に少ないのが特徴です。

学校特徴

全体で7段階のレベルに分かれており、スピーキング、リスニング、リーディング、発音、文法を総合的に学ぶことを目標に、授業は学校独自の教科書を使用しながら進みます。一つのレベルを10週間で終えるカリキュラムですが、レベルアップテストが毎週あるため、上達度によってはそれよりも早く次のレベルへ上がれることもあります。

基本となるコースのほかに、ファイナル45というユニークな時間があり、2週間ごとに好きなトピックのクラスに参加することが出来ます。楽しみながら学ぶことを目的とした時間で、映画を通して英語を学ぶクラスや、英語の自然な表現を学ぶクラスに人気があります。ほかのクラスメートや担任以外の講師とも触れ合える良い機会です。

レベル7になると、大学進学プログラム、ビジネス英語、TOEFL、IELTSなど、受講できるプログラムの選択肢が広がります。大学進学プログラムは、卒業するとTOEFLなしで提携大学へ進学することができ、ビジネス英語は12週間受講するとディプロマの修得が可能です。

授業の開始時間が3種類あり、「朝から始めて午後早い時間に終わる」、「午後から初めて夕方まで通う」など、生活スタイルに合わせた通学が可能です。

アクティビティ

毎週15～20時間のアクティビティが用意されています。セーリング、乗馬、博物館、スキー、パーティのほか、週末の小旅行などもあります。アクティビティには別途費用がかかりますが、無料のものも催されています。

Halifax is great because it has the advantages of a big city (lots to do, great concerts and shows, lots of universities, good public transportation) and all of the advantages of a small city (friendly people, safe, clean, and quiet).

CLLC isn't good, it's the best ESL school in the world. We do all the little things right all the time. We care about our students like they were our family. We have a great balance between strong academics and friendly teachers and staff. People who work at CLLC love their jobs, and the students feel that. It's more than just a school, it's a family.

Through our academic programs, students get lots of opportunity to speak and participate in class. As a result their pronunciation and spoken confidence increase. They then get the opportunity, in the activity section of the day, to practice what they learned in class, outside in the real world.

It is a small, safe city, with many activities and points of interest. It is a good choice for Japanese learners because there is a small Japanese population in the city, and therefore less of a chance of speaking their native-language. Halifax provides a full immersion experience.

It is a multicultural, English-only learning environment. We have a wonderful activities program, and promote learning both inside and outside the classroom.

As well, in addition to our academic excellence, I believe one of greatest qualities of CLLC is the closeness between students and their teachers, as well as the international friendships that form between students.

Our school provides a harmonious and comfortable environment to allow students to relax and overcome any fears they may have about speaking English. Our classes promote interaction between students, and always have a strong speaking/communication component. Final 45 classes can focus directly on pronunciation and speaking difficulties, and provide a more focused learning experience. Our activities and home stay program offer even more chances to practice speaking English with native speakers, and to help become comfortable communicating in North American culture.
